Panel description:
This panel aims to analyze the evolving Turkish and EU’s migration practices regarding LGBTI refugees. The panel seeks to explore the current legal and political challenges regarding LGBTI asylum seekers in Turkey and in the EU. Specifically, it seeks to address the specific condition of vulnerability of LGBTI refugees with a particular focus on the recent EU-Turkey agreement. The purpose is to assess whether and to what extent LGBTI refugees can find adequate protection under this agreement and, more generally, in the context of EU asylum policies.

We welcome papers that tackle the issue from the perspective of political science and legal studies. Other disciplines are welcome too, as long as they can offer meaningful insights to the proposed topic.
