Courtney is the Assistant Manager of ESL Strategic Initiatives at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, and a PhD student in Policy Studies, Immigration, Settlement and Diaspora Stream, also at Ryerson University. Courtney’s professional background includes work with refugee claimants, migration support for transnational professionals, and most recently, advising and program development for newcomer, non-native English speaking students in Canada. Additionally, she is a member of a Lifeline Syria sponsorship team, where she facilitates employment skills and language development for a Syrian refugee family resettling in Toronto.

Courtney’s research interests include: immigrant labour market integration in post-industrial economies; credential recognition; language acquisition; and, international mobility for youth, in education and employment. Courtney is deeply committed to evidence-based policy research, and is thrilled to contribute to the ongoing development of EPSMI and the Refugee Review.
